学校の歴史と概要

英国のコンテンポラリーダンス教育をリード

ザ・プレイス（The Place）またはLCDSの名で親しまれ、1966年創立以来、約40年にわたり英国のコンテンポラリーダンス教育をリードする。

卒業生は世界のコンテンポラリーダンス界をリードする人々が

セントラル・スクール・オブ・バレエ、ランベールなどと共に、英国のConservatoire Dance and Dramaに所属するため、卒業後はケント大学の学士号が取得できる。卒業生には、リチャード・オーストン、キム・ブランドストラップ、シボーン・ディビス他、現在も英国のみならず世界のコンテンポラリーダンス界をリードする人々の名が列挙され、特別講習やパフォーマンス出演などで在学中に広がるネットワークは非常に広範囲である。

校舎と劇場がつながった作り

英国内にコンテンポラリーダンスを普及し独自の発展を促進するため、1969年には「The Place」劇場がオープン、校舎と劇場とがつながった作りとなっている。常に最先端の舞台に触れ、そして毎学期に一度は、自らも発信できる「Ideas and Action」というプログラムによって、互いの創作活動を刺激する機会に恵まれる。

世界中から多様な学生が集まる

歴史ある建物を改装し、12のスタジオを有するState of the Artの校舎には、世界中からコンテンポラリーダンスを学ぶ学生が集まって来るが、その年齢やバックグラウンドは多様である。また、卒業生の進路は幅広く、世界中のダンス・カンパニーや振付家の元で活躍するだけでなく、多くの振付家、クリエイター、舞台技術関係者など、ダンス関連業界を担う人材を輩出している。

  • ダンスでGCSE,またはAレベル、またはBTEC、または留学生は同等のレベル
  • 2科目でGSEアドバンスドレベル(32 new UCAS tariff points/80 old UCAS tariff points）、加えて他の科目で3 GCSEs (Grade A-C) 。
  • 1科目でGSEアドバンスドレベル (16 new UCAS tariff points/40 old UCAS tariff points) とアート＆デザイン分野で準学士加えて他の1科目で3 GCSEs (Grade A-C)
  • 経験と作品ポートフォリオ
  • 英語レベル：IELTS レベル 6.0 （リーディング、ライティング、リスニング、スピーキングで最低5.5）必須
